This is raw hair in the strictest sense: collected from one donor, cuticles fully intact and running one direction, and never steamed, dyed or blended. No curl has been set onto it. What you see is that donor's own pattern.

That is also the one thing to understand before you buy. Because each bundle is one person's hair rather than a batch matched in a factory, every bundle has its own curl pattern. Two bundles of the same length will not be identical. That variation is the proof it is raw — and once the bundles are installed together, they read as one head of natural hair rather than a uniform, obviously-added texture.

How many bundles do you need?

Curly hair is dense and full, so you generally need fewer bundles than straight. Remember that curly hair is measured stretched — a 20" bundle wears noticeably shorter once it is installed and in its natural curl.

Care

• Sulfate-free shampoo, washed in a downward motion — never scrubbed in circles
• Deep condition after every wash; raw curly hair is porous and drinks moisture
• Detangle wet, from the ends up, with a wide-tooth comb or Denman brush
• Scrunch and air dry for maximum definition; diffuse on low if you need speed
• Refresh between washes with water and leave-in conditioner in a spray bottle
• Pineapple at night, or sleep on satin
