How many bundles do I need with a frontal?
Three bundles with a 13x4 or 13x6 frontal at 18 inches and under, four at 22 inches and longer. A frontal runs ear to ear across the whole hairline, so it covers what your leave-out used to, but the back and sides still need the same wefts.

A frontal needs more upkeep than any closure: the perimeter has to be re-laid every one to two weeks, and the lace sits against your edges. If you part your hair and wear it down, a 6x6 or 7x7 closure gets you most of the parting range with a fraction of the maintenance.
Does a bigger closure or frontal mean fewer bundles?
Mostly no. Bundles cover the back, sides and crown, and even a 7x7 closure only replaces the lace-covered patch at the top of the head. Where a larger piece does help is at shorter lengths: with a 7x7 closure or a 13x6 frontal at 14 inches and under, two bundles can finish a full install because there is less head left to fill. Past 16 inches, plan on three.
Why 6x6, 7x7 and 13x6 are HD only: the larger the lace, the more of it there is to hide. HD lace is the thinnest lace made and melts into the scalp without tinting. On a 4x4 or 2x6 there is little enough lace that transparent blends well; on 36 to 78 square inches it would show at the edges. HD is more delicate, so cut and lay it gently. Why do longer lengths need more bundles?
Virgin hair tapers toward the ends, because not every strand in a bundle reaches the full length on the tag. A 26-inch bundle carries its full weight near the weft and noticeably less at the tips, so it takes more of them to keep the ends as full as the top. That is why the count climbs past 22 inches even though the head you are covering stays the same size.
Want a layered finish? Mix lengths, for example 18, 20 and 22 inches. For a blunt, one-length cut, buy all your bundles the same length and add one if you are going past 22 inches.
Does texture change how many bundles I need?
Yes. Curly and kinky curly hair builds volume fast, so two to three bundles often looks fuller than four straight bundles at the same length. Straight hair lies flat and shows every gap, so buy the top of the range. Body wave, loose wave, deep wave and water wave sit in between.
Texture also changes the length you wear, which is different from how many you need. Length is measured stretched: deep wave wears about 2 inches shorter than the tag, and curly 3 to 4 inches shorter. Buy longer, not more.
How do I measure my head for bundles?
Run a soft tape measure around your head from the front hairline, above the tops of your ears, and around the nape. A standard medium wig cap is 22.5 inches, which fits most women. If you measure 23 inches or more, go to the high end of the chart; under 21.5 inches, the low end is usually enough.
What length closure or frontal should I get with my bundles?
Match the closure or frontal to your shortest bundle, or go one length shorter. With 18, 20 and 22-inch bundles, an 18-inch closure blends cleanly; a 22-inch closure would sit longer than the hair around it at the front. Buy it in the same texture and the same color as your bundles so the part matches the install.
