Start with what you are building

For a sew-in, you need bundles and usually a lace piece. Three bundles cover a full head at 18 inches and under, four past 22, and that count does not change when you add a closure. Pick the texture in virgin hair bundles, then match it in closures for a part at the crown or 13x4 frontals for the full hairline.

For length you can take out at night, that is seamless clip-in extensions — twenty shades, no braiding, no adhesive.

Questions worth settling before you buy

What is virgin hair?

Virgin hair is human hair that has never been chemically processed — not permed, not relaxed, not dyed. The wave or curl is set with steam rather than chemicals, which is why the pattern comes back after every wash instead of loosening over a few weeks. Most of this catalog is virgin hair at 6A grade.

What is the difference between virgin and raw hair?

Donors. Both are unprocessed, but raw hair comes from a single donor, so every strand is the same age with the cuticles running one direction. That is what buys the extra installs and the smoother feel. Virgin hair is collected from more than one donor and sorted. Raw sits in raw hair bundles.

How many bundles do you need for a full sew-in?

Three at 18 inches and under, four past 22. Hair tapers as it lengthens, so three long bundles look thin through the ends. A closure or a frontal does not replace a bundle — it finishes the crown or the hairline while the bundles fill the sides and the back.

HD lace or transparent lace?

HD for the least prep, transparent for the longest life. HD is the thinner mesh: it melts flatter and most people lay it with no bleaching or tinting, but it tears if handled roughly. Transparent is sturdier, blends on most skin tones as it comes, and survives more take-downs. The hair is identical in both.

Color

The colored hair is dyed on a virgin base. Deposit shades like #2 chocolate brown and 99J burgundy hold their tone. The #613 blonde is lifted to a clean base so a colorist can tone it. The 1B/27 leaves the roots at their natural color and dyes only the lengths, which is what gives it a grown-out look without a root touch-up.

Whatever you land on, buy the closure or frontal in the same texture and color as the bundles. Matching at the part is what makes an install read as your own hair, and dyeing a lace piece later does not get you there — lace hair lifts differently from wefted hair.
