A raw lace frontal is built from hair collected from one donor and never chemically processed — no dyes, no relaxers, no silicone coatings. Every strand is hand-tied into a lace base that runs the hairline from ear to ear, so you can part anywhere, wear it back, or pull a low ponytail without exposing a track.

Raw sits a tier above virgin, and the difference is the donor rather than the chemistry. Virgin hair is also chemically untreated, but it is routinely blended across donors so a whole batch matches. Raw is one head of hair, which is why the cuticles stay aligned, why it lifts predictably when you bleach the knots, and why it survives more re-installs before the hair itself gives out.

On a frontal, that matters more than it does on a bundle. A frontal is the piece everyone looks at. Aligned cuticles are what keep the hairline from frizzing and matting at the perimeter after a few washes, and what let you tone the knots to your scalp without the hair going brassy or brittle.

Both frontals in this collection are 13x4 on HD lace — thirteen inches across the hairline, four inches back, the standard size and the easiest one to install. Body wave is the forgiving texture, with enough movement to hide a melt that isn't perfect. Burmese curly is a defined 3B–3C corkscrew with more volume and more shrinkage, so order it about two inches longer than the length you want to see. Each one is steam-set to match its raw bundle counterpart exactly, so the hairline and the install read as one head of hair. Plan on three to four bundles with a frontal.

What is a raw lace frontal?

Is a steam-set raw frontal still raw?

Both frontals here are steam-set, and the pattern reverts on its own after every wash.

Should I get a raw frontal or a raw closure?

A frontal covers the full hairline ear to ear, so you can part anywhere and pull the hair straight back. A closure covers a smaller panel at the crown and holds one or two set partings. Choose a frontal for versatility, a closure for lower maintenance.

What is the difference between a 13x4, 13x6 and 360 frontal?

The numbers are inches of lace. A 13x4 gives 13 inches across the hairline and 4 inches back. A 13x6 gives 6 inches of depth for a deeper part. A 360 frontal runs lace around the entire perimeter, which is what lets you wear a high ponytail with a natural edge all the way around. The raw line is 13x4 only.

How many bundles do I need with a raw frontal?

Three to four. Three covers most sew-ins up to about 20 inches; go to four past that, or if you want a fuller install. Match the frontal to your shortest bundle, or go one length shorter — a frontal that hangs longer than the hair behind it reads wrong at the crown.

How long does a raw lace frontal last?

The hair will outlast the lace. Raw hair holds up for a year or more across several installs, but the lace is the wear point — it thins where you bleach, glue and pull. With careful takedowns and satin at night, expect six months to a year of regular wear.
