How to choose your length and color

The natural black bundle runs 10 to 32 inches. That is the full range, and the one to buy for a long install. The colored bundles run 16 to 24 inches in #1 jet black, #2 chocolate brown, #4 caramel brown and 99J burgundy.

Length on a wave is measured with the hair pulled straight, so it hangs a little shorter than the number once the S settles. Add about two inches to whatever you want to see.

Body wave has the deepest bench of matching pieces of any texture we carry. There is a 4x4 and a 5x5 closure in both HD and transparent lace, and a 13x4 frontal in both, in natural black and in the same colors as the bundles. Buy the closure in the color you bought the bundles in rather than dyeing one to match. Lace hair takes color differently from wefted hair and the part ends up a shade off.

What is body wave hair?

Body wave is a loose, uniform S-pattern that runs the length of the hair without curling at the ends. It sits between bone straight and a defined wave. On virgin bundles the pattern is set with steam rather than chemicals, which is why it comes back every time you wash it out.

Loose wave or body wave?

Body wave is the wider, softer of the two. The S is more open, there is less definition, and it takes the least work of any patterned texture. Loose wave has a tighter, more visible S that holds shape better in humidity but needs a leave-in to stay soft. Buy body wave for a blowout look, loose wave when you want the pattern to read from across a room.

Is this the same as a body wave perm?

No. A body wave perm is a salon chemical service that puts a soft wave into your own hair, and it grows out. These are wefted extensions sewn into braided-down hair, and the wave is already in them. Nothing chemical touches your hair.

How many bundles do I need for a body wave sew-in?

Three bundles cover a full sew-in at 18 inches and under. Buy four past 22 inches, because the wave uses up density as it falls and three long bundles will read thin through the ends. Adding a closure or a frontal does not change that count.

How long does a body wave sew-in last?

Six to eight weeks. Past that, the braids underneath start to matt at the base and it is your own hair that pays for it. Wash with a sulfate-free shampoo, condition mid-shaft down, and scrunch rather than comb while it is wet. Keep a flat iron at 350 and below with a heat protectant, because 450 straightens a wave for good. Taken down on schedule, one set reinstalls three or four more times.
