An HD lace closure is built on the thinnest lace made — fine enough to sink into the scalp rather than sit on top of it, which is why most people can lay one with no bleaching and no tinting at all. If you have ever spotted the edge of a closure in a photograph, that is the problem HD lace solves.

Every piece here is a 4x4 or 5x5 HD lace closure on 100% virgin human hair, hand-tied so the part falls on lace instead of on your scalp.

How to choose: lace type, size, texture and length

HD is thinner, so it melts flatter and usually needs no prep. The trade is durability: it tears if you handle it roughly and thins faster where you glue and pull. Cut it with a light hand, never tug a lifted edge, and take it down with adhesive remover rather than force. Transparent lace is sturdier and survives more take-downs. Pick the lace on handling — the hair is the same either way.

On size: a 4x4 handles a fixed middle or side part and is the smallest amount of HD lace to manage, which matters — the thinner the lace, the more careful the cut. A 5x5 adds an inch in every direction, enough to take the part deeper, move it off center, and change it mid-week.

Lengths are 14 and 18 inches, with 16 inches on some colors. Match texture and color to the bundles rather than dyeing a closure later — lace hair takes color differently from wefted hair, and the part ends up off.

What is an HD lace closure?

It is a closure hand-tied onto ultra-fine Swiss lace. The thread is finer than standard or transparent lace, so the mesh disappears against skin without tinting or bleaching, and the part reads as scalp in daylight and on camera. Everything else about it is a normal closure: a small base of real hair, sewn or glued at the crown to finish a sew-in.

What is the difference between a lace frontal and a lace closure?

Coverage. A closure covers the crown; a frontal covers the whole hairline. A 4x4 or 5x5 closure gives you one part in a fixed area and takes an hour of work. A 13x4 frontal runs ear to ear, so you can part anywhere, brush it back, or wear it up without a track at the temples — at the cost of more install time, more plucking and more tension on your edges.

What is a closure wig?

A closure wig is a wig built with a 4x4 or 5x5 closure sewn into the front of a cap and wefted bundles filling the rest. It gives one realistic part at the crown without the ear-to-ear lace of a frontal wig, so it is quicker to put on. Two or three bundles plus one closure is the usual build.

Lace closure vs silk base closure: which is better?

Lace blends flatter, silk base hides knots better. A silk base has silk under the hair, so the knots sit concealed with no bleaching — but it is thicker, sits higher on the head, and its perimeter is harder to disappear. HD lace reaches the same invisible part from the other direction, by making the mesh itself vanish.

Bundle count and upkeep

A closure does not reduce your bundle count. Three bundles plus a closure covers a full head at 18 inches and under; four plus the closure past 22. The lace wears out before the hair does, so treat it as the wear part: sulfate-free shampoo, condition the hair from mid-shaft down, keep an iron at 350 and below, and take a sew-in down at six to eight weeks.
