This year marked the 51st annual NAACP Image Award ceremony. The attendees incorporated brilliant shades and textures as they stepped onto the carpet over the weekend. Black people are rewriting history, and telling stories in beautiful ways that are paving the way for generations to come. We are honored to see black women and men representing what it means to be remarkable. The energy in the auditorium was powerful, and we hope to continue to see the support and opportunities within the black community grow.
Lizzo’s energy after accepting her award was, EVERYTHING. Congratulations to Lizzo for winning the award for Entertainer of The Year. Her performances are iconic, much like her custom Mary Katrantzou gown.
Rihanna was draped in Givenchy couture in a regal purple shade. We are still waiting for her new album to drop, but hearing her moving speech was enough to hold us over.
Young actress Marsai Martin won the Outstanding Supporting Actress and Breakthrough Performance in Motion Picture Award. The Black-ish star wore a Ermanno Scervino dress paired with a vibrant iridescent purple sheened eyeshadow.
Another favorite of the night was Angela Bassett in a striking green Azzi & Osta belted gown. The category winner for Outstanding Actress in Drama Series paired her dress with a deep plum smokey eye to top off her look.
