We always look to the Academy Awards red carpet to see new trends we should try at home. This year’s Oscar awards ceremony, in particular, had us in love. Smoldering smokey eyes, blinged-out jewelry, and nail designs we can’t wait to try at our next appointment. These ladies stepped out and put their best foot forward, literally, the shoes were beautiful.
Here’s a look at some of the top looks we adored on the red carpet.

First up we have Best Actress nominee for the film Harriet, Cynthia Erivo with her beautiful silver-toned fade and deep smokey eye glam. Cynthia looked angelic waltzing along the carpet in her custom atelier white Versace gown. One of the best details of the night were her Vincent Van Gogh inspired nails, perfected by detailed nail artist Gina Oh of @Ohriginails. Along with her jewelry, this detail completed her jaw-dropping look and matched the beautiful energy she left on the carpet.

Someone who never fails to pull looks on the carpet is the awe-inspiring, Janelle Monáe. Giving us a futuristic goddess moment, she shined on the red carpet in a custom Swarovski crystal Ralph Lauren gown. This blockbuster look was paired with a classic red lip and perfectly swooped side bang. Janelle’s red carpet look was just as much of a head-turner as her opening performance on stage with Billy Porter later in the evening. During her quick interview with Billy Porter prior to the carpet, she voiced that the important take away from her role in Harriet was to “Listen to black women”. Thank you to Janelle for her words, performance and presence she continues to inspire us all.

Zazie Beetz’s black sequined Thom Browne look made us want to run out to go shopping for something new and shiny. Her two-piece set was paired with Bulgari jewelry with emerald encrusted detailing, and a black french tip manicure to tie the look together. Our favorite part of the look is, of course, her up-do. It’s refreshing to see women embracing their natural hair and showing that curls are a classic look that will continue to be showstoppers at any event.

Soft pink, with a snatched waist? Sign us up. The look we didn’t know we needed came from last year’s Oscar winner for Best Supporting Actress, Regina King. She looked stunning in her asymmetrical necklined Versace gown. The pink-toned glam complimented her dress and followed the makeup theme of the night, personalized soft glam.
After watching this year’s Oscars we will be incorporating more sultry smokey eyes looks and glitzy accessories into our everyday routines.
