It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Outside of the overload of Christmas lights, parties, eggnog and gifts, there will surely be festive attire to highlight the season. Many people host ugly Christmas sweater parties or instruct their guests to wear traditional colors to their affairs; we know that there are some attendees who will go all out to show their love of Christmas. Some of our favorite celebrities do the same! I, for one, love to see how celebs celebrate, as it shows they are just like us. Let’s take a look at some of the celebrities who pulled off my favorite Christmas surprise fashions:
Kenya Moore as The Grinch
Maybe it was a play on her perceived behavior as a bad seed from her castmates and fans of the Real Housewives of Atlanta, maybe not. Either way, Kenya Moore gets my vote for adding a pinch of fabulousness to her rendition of the Grinch. The combination of green spray paint against the red lipstick and shiny silver earrings was eye-catching; her hair in a green-highlighted high ponytail completes the look. The cateye makeup helps pull off the devious smile The Grinch is famous for. And of course, she topped it off with a red Santa suit.
Rita Ora’s Christmas Bow
At the 2014 Holiday Jingle Ball, Ora brought holiday cheer mixed with Old Hollywood glam to the red carpet with a velvet bow dress. The fishnet stockings, classic ponytail, simple pumps and her hair slicked back was a perfect pairing. Minimal jewelry, a bright red lip and the hair off of her face successfully did the job to not clash with her dress. The dress was bold and a bit daring; if she made one simple mistake, the overall look could have been a disaster. Go Rita!
Dwyane Wade’s Christmas Cuts
It’s unfortunate when people have to work on Christmas and celebs are no different. When D-Wade knew he’d have to shoot hoops on Christmas afternoon instead of sit at home under his tree surrounded by family, he figured he’d take the spirit with him. Dwyane was creative in decking out his sneakers to commemorate the holiday. Apparently, sports fans have eagerly anticipated what sneakers their favorite players will wear during the Christmas Day game for years! I think Wade is the first to actually go Christmas crazy with his.
Erika Girardi’s Accessorized Braid
I’ve never watched the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and am unfamiliar with the show. However, when I came across this picture of RHOBH star Erika Girardi at a Bravo Christmas function I was impressed with her originality. You expect to see stars dressed up as a famous Christmas character (how many Santa suits have you seen thus far?) or come in a red or green bedazzled ensemble... but I hadn’t ever seen someone dress up their hair for Christmas, at least not like this. Her hair resembles a mini tree of ornaments and is reminiscent of a holiday Candy Cane Lane. Kudos to Erika for this Christmas braid!
Lady Gaga
Gaga is already known for taking risks with her stage costumes, so it’s not surprising that she’d give Christmas the same amount of energy for the Jingle Ball in London. Red jumpsuit, red nails and a red lip are pretty subtle for her. She showed up and out with Christmas branches, leaves, a wreath and/or all of the above decorated with Christmas bulbs on her mane. Had she added actual lights and a star at the top of this headband, I would have gagged and placed her at #1 on this list. The green hair complemented her human-inspired tree beautifully.
