Fanny pack
I mentioned this in a previous piece, but I cannot stress how necessary a fanny pack is. They are simple, chic, durable and more sensible to walk around with. All you need to carry around are your wallet, phone and maybe a fan, depending on how hot it is. A fanny pack can fit all of that and then some. I’m trying to save you energy and space on your body from trucking around a huge tote bag all summer long. Snap a fanny pack around your waist and be on your way! Tie-Dye
Another full-circle fashion look is that of tie-dye. I haven’t personally tried this yet, but before the summer is over I will be sure to incorporate it into my look. It’s fun, colorful, and a nice throwback to multiple generations. Tie-dye was popular from the ’60s to the early ’90s and looks like it’s back to stay! Whether you opt for a tie-dye headband or a full-ensemble, you’ll be sure to both fit in and stand out. They even have tie dye bathing suits! Whatever the occasion is, you’ll kill it!
Fringe Flare
Looking to add a little fringe in your life? Well, now is the time. Perfect for music festivals or a fun night out, a little fringe can go a long way. You can be subtle or loud. The fun thing about fringe is that you can go for a simple, one-color look or go all out with prints. Fringy cover-ups are pretty popular this season, along with various kinds of fringed skirts.
Biker Shorts
We aren’t just working out in biker shorts anymore, they are a part of our outfits. High waist or regular, they are a perfect option to dress up or down. They come in varying colors, with neon being a favorite, they are comfy and can transition from day to night. Wear them with a crop top or oversized t-shirt. Either way, you’ll turn heads!
All the Prints
I’ve always been a cheetah girl and to this day, there’s a little cheetah/leopard print in my wardrobe. It’s such a classic print that transcends seasons. But this summer, the prints have expanded! There are lions, tigers, bears and everything in between walking around...the possibilities are limitless!
Anything Neon
Lawd, y’all are shining brightly out here. I cannot walk down the street without seeing a variation of a crayon in a shirt, skirt or lip color. People are pushing the envelope with fashion and wearing bright colors from head to toe. It may be a spaghetti-strapped bodycon dress, biker shorts, a pair of sneakers or all of the above; no one is scared to rock neon anymore. Zara, H&M, Forever 21...the choices are endless.
