These women are not only trainers, but influencers, brand ambassadors, speakers, and entrepreneurs. They are staking their claim in the $80 billion U.S. global fitness industry and bringing us along for the ride. Together, they have a combined total of over 4 million followers on Instagram, and their numbers keep growing.
Whether you want to lose weight, bulk up, maintain, or simply lift that booty, you're bound to find the motivation you need from one of these trainers. They emphasize body positivity, healthy lifestyles, and strong hearts and minds. Their Instagram feeds are chock full of fitness advice, tips, and innovative ways to exercise whether or not you have equipment.
Where it was once hard or impossible to find fitness gurus that represented us, now you have your choice. And while we can't feature every Black woman fitness trainer on the Gram, here's our list of ones we think you should be following.
Kiara A. Townsell is a physical powerhouse. Known as @thefitnesski to her Instagram followers, she is a former athlete, a certified trainer, and a new mom. Kiara holds nothing back in her exercise routines, exuding a strength from her small frame that is surprising and inspirational. She makes use of everything from bodyweight to barbells. And, she tackles cardio and abs with an intensity that will leave you breathless. Follow her and your workouts will never be boring again. @theqii_tofitness, also known as QiQi, is a certified personal trainer who provides her followers with regular workouts for the entire body. No equipment, no problem. QiQi uses household items like brooms, books, and chairs to make her workouts effective and fun. Get your regular exercise fix from her creative routines.
3. @Ajahzifit
Throughout the COVID-19 quarantine, Ajahzi Gardener or @ajahzifit has regularly posted at-home workout routines that prove you don't need heavy weights to stay fit. Her labeled videos target various muscle groups and make it easy to scroll and choose a suitable routine. Lighter free weights, bands, kettlebells, and bodyweight are all you need for her killer workouts. And trust us, you will feel the burn. A full-blown melanin goddess, Frantzcesca Casimir pulls double duty as both an active duty soldier and a certified fitness trainer. Between her gym and at-home workouts, you'll find plenty to keep you busy during quarantine. Frantzcesca's routines target all of your muscle groups, with and without equipment. Her powerful exercises target your entire body and the range of routines on her page will keep you busy well beyond quarantine. She is an undeniable force in the industry with over 2.6 million followers on Instagram and features on notable outlets from Cosmopolitan to Oxygen. On her site, you’ll find her MAWarrior programs and challenges that focus on fat loss, muscle gains, healthy eating and nutrition.

Tae-León is a Stanford Med Student and certified fitness trainer. Tae utilizes video-in-video effects to create unique and functional posts that demonstrate beginner and advanced exercise variations as well as the right vs. the wrong way to do them. Her colorful, well-labeled posts tackle everything from side booty workouts to upper abs. So, if you're looking to correct your form or you're a newbie, this is a great place to start.
