Black Hair Is Beauty

Black Hair Is Beauty

Black hair is versatile and beautiful. There are so many hairstyles we can do with our hair, not to mention all of the different hair textures among Black people. From wigs, to short hair, to braids and locs, our hair allows us to do so much, not to mention the fact that our hair textures are the only ones that can literally defy gravity.

Nowadays, there are so many Black celebrities, influencers, and everyday people who share aspects of their hair journey online. People share videos of them doing box braids or locs on Youtube, Instagram, and TikTok. It’s also very common for celebrities and influencers to post pictures or videos of different hairstyles and tag the stylists who did their hair. With the natural hair community becoming more and more well known within the Black community for embracing their natural hair, more Black women have started wearing their natural hair more and more over the course of the past few years.

More women and men have also gravitated towards protective styles and embraced color in their hair. Black men have been wearing locs and twists more and have started coloring their hair, while Black women have been gravitating more towards box braids, goddess locs, colorful wigs, and passion twists. Twist outs, braid outs, and wash and go’s have also been promoted within our community more instead of relaxers and straightening our hair. Black men and women are being taught to love and embrace their hair and hair textures and to experiment with different styles, rather than years ago, where they were told that their hair was unprofessional or not tamed.

Social media has been responsible for showcasing the natural hair and the versatility of Black hair. On social media apps like TikTok, many Gen-Z users post videos of them coloring or bleaching their hair bright colors or doing patterns such as hearts and circles in their hair. An ever-increasing number of Black women post videos doing braids or patterned wigs. Instagram has also been very popular. Celebrity hairstylists such as Fesa Nu and Larry Sims post pictures of different hairstyles they’ve done on celebrities for editorial shoots, red carpet events, music videos, and more. Here are some of our favorite styles to use as hairspiration.
