Style Spotlight: Cynthia Bailey

So apparently, Cynthia Bailey is 50-something... Someone give me the blueprint so I look this good when I’m a half-century years old!

Ms. Bailey is everything, in the best way possible. The Real Housewives of Atlanta star and current model, if you’re counting her new contract, is known for her killer strut, high cheekbones and positive spirit. She’s graced the cover of magazines and walked international runways for decades and is affectionately known by top photographers as “The Face”.

As a model she says it’s important to always be camera-ready, even when balancing her day to day life.

She told Essence in a 2010 interview, “I am a model, so my work wear is whatever I feel like that day. And if I want to make it more casual, I can dress it down with a pair of flats, low top Converse, or Dr. Martens. Flip-flops work as well.”

Fast forward almost a decade, and that fashion advice sticks to this day.

As she’s aged, her style hasn’t wavered; she’s only gotten better with time. And she’s embraced this new decade in her life, referring to herself as “50 Cynt” when she turned the big 5-0.

She can rock anything from evening gowns to Timberland boots; she can wear a Diana Ross-inspired ponytail or a short buzz cut, which she was known for during her heyday as a model.

When speaking about her own personal style with Bravo TV, Cynthia says it’s all about mixing and matching.

“My own personal style is a mixture. I love vintage. I love nothing better than a Chanel sweater with H&M jeans and a pair of Converse and a Prada bag and call it a day.”

While most beauty representatives opt for clothing lines, Cynthia is set to take the accessories world by storm. She is the proud owner of Cargo by CB, which boasts a collection of leather bags, and Cynthia Bailey Eyewear, which carries sunglasses and fashionable readers. She also has a collection of home goods that includes scented candles.

And, she does it all with a good wig and an outfit to die for.

When speaking about her staple pieces with Essence Magazine, Cynthia keeps its simple: “Black turtleneck, and black jeans or black slacks.”
