Connecting Black Women Entrepreneurs: Mayvenn Hosts "Beauty Talks" At Essence Fest

Connecting Black Women Entrepreneurs: Mayvenn Hosts

New Orleans is magic. Its the home of voodoo, Creole culture, crawfish boils, and, of course, the black girl magic mecca, ESSENCE Fest. Every year, thousands of women of all ages and backgrounds touch down in New Orleans to light up Bourbon Street, buy Black-owned beauty products at the Superdome, and reunite with their girls.

With our mission being to propel black women forward (and our strong affinity for Cafe du Monde beignets), it was only right that Mayvenn brought it's first ever stylist dinner to the Big Easy. Mayvenn Beauty Talks is a dinner and discussion for celebrity stylists and hair influencers to connect about entrepreneurship and the current state of the beauty industry.

With the help of the B Firm PR, and our lovely host, Sr. Entertainment Editor of Hello Beautiful, Shamika Sanders, we had an intimate and beautiful event celebrating the power of black women who are creating their own seats at the table.

Some of the notable guests include founder of CRWN magazine, Lindsey Day, celebrity stylist and owner of Vernon Francois haircare, Vernon Francois, and The Shindellas. An open bar kept the vibes flowing and our complimentary hair bar kept our guests glowing.

A special shoutout to our gift bag sponsors whom are all founded by Black women: eyeshadows and lipsticks were provided by makeup brand Hue Noir. Beija Flor, an Oakland-based natural hair and home goods brand, provided homemade natural hair products. CRWN mag blessed us with the latest issue of their magazine.

The lovely @shamika_sanders was an awesome host and any time @thebfirmpr is a part of something, you know it will be memorable! Thank you so much for inviting me! I learned so much, but here are the highlights: • 1.) Wherever I go, I will always run into someone from Chicago! •? 2.) ALWAYS stay open. At first i thought this event was only about hair or for hair professionals and i made assumptions that the #beautytalks would ONLY be about hair & beauty. It was sooooo much more! When I tell you gems were dropped! I was literally taking notes. It was entrepreneurship, inspiration, motivation and how we face the obstacles that meet us along our dynamic journeys. •✨ 3.) Mayvenn @mayvennhair CEO @diishani is not only keeping women’s hair looking flawless, he is helping to offset some of the socioeconomic disparities in the beauty industry! ✊?Mayvenn hair is sowing into the community and providing opportunities to black women by allowing hairstylists to not be boxed out of the extensions profit that they have for so long installed and supported. At no cost to stylists, they can have direct access to quality hair, their own website and get commissions on their sales, and no catch. Plus Mayvenn hair has a 100% satisfaction guarantee that you will be happy with your hair purchase or you get your money back. Never heard of such? Too good to be true? As far as I know, they are the only hair line that does it. Check them out! •?? 4.
