May Favorites

May Favorites

April is over...it’s gonna be May! Ok, I love a good corny joke and couldn’t resist. On a better note, our favorites roundup for this month is no laughing matter. From Black owned brands breaking even more boundaries to cute and practical products, this one was especially fun to curate.

The Dooplex

The Dooplex has one goal: “to be the go-to site for women of color for products made and manufactured with them in mind.” The online store is a go-to retailer for beauty products for women of color and houses brands that were created for/manufactured by minority-owned businesses.

Golde

Founded in 2017 by Trinity Wofford, Golde is a “brand centered in making superfood-boosted essentials for health and beauty”. She’s become the youngest Black woman to ever launch a brand in Sephora and is taking the industry by storm with over 100+ stockists. Shine on, Golde!

Grown Up Lunch Boxes

This lunch bag looks more like a tote bag than a clunky lunch container...and I’m here for it. As someone who is committed to bringing food to work and eating out less, this comes in clutch (pun intended)! And for only $13.99 with 1400+ reviews, I can spare the change.

Fire Sneakers Designed by Women

Titled “La Mezcla” and designed by Gabrielle Serrano of New York as a part of the Nike: On Air contest, these Air Max 98s are EVERYTHING. Besides the dope colorway and being one of my fave comfortable Nikes, having a woman of color designed sneaker is just exciting.

Books for Us, By Us

I’ve been a longtime fan of all things VSB (Very Smart Brothas) and was juiced when they joined forces with The Root. Fast forward, and cofounder Damon Young has published his first memoir in essays, “What Doesn’t Kill You Makes You Blacker”. I’m here for it!

Buying Flowers & Plants...For Yourself

Call me extra, but I love having fresh flowers and plants in my space. Succulents, palms, sunflowers...I’m here for it all. They bring brightness and keep the good vibes flowing, along with just being pretty. I don’t always splurge on bouquets and I like to support local, family-owned floral or plant shops. Spring has sprung and summer is on the way - I need evidence!
